Chandigarh: After replacing the guard in Punjab, the Congress government led by Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday appointed officers IAS 1990-Batch Anirudh Tewari as the new major secretary.
Tewari, which is the main development of the Secretary-Financial Cum-Financial, has replaced the 1987 batch officer Vinni Mahajan.
A native Patiala, Tewari has done it (electronics), MA (economy) and also holds a master in international development policies.
He will retire in April 2027.
Mahajan is the wife of Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta and has been the main secretary of the first woman in June last year.
After the command change in the state, changes were close to Mahajan and her husband was considered the trust of the former CM Amarinder Singh.
He will pour in October 2024.
DGP replacement is also expected at any time.
The new major secretary will go to the Department of Personnel, vigilance, food processing, horticulture, governance reform, public complaints and will continue as a financial commissioner, development.
The state government has appointed five senior officers to Tewari as a special major secretary.
These include Mahajan, Batch officers in 1988 Ravnneet Kaur and Sanjay Kumar, and 1989-batch officers Vijay Kumar Janjua and Kripan Shankar Saroj.
Mahajan has not been allocated department.
