CHANDIGARH: Punjab’s new district Malerkotla will get a medical school to be installed in the price of almost Rs 370 crore.
The choice to establish a medical school from the Malerkotla district has been obtained at an assembly of a state-level panel, chaired by Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan, ” an official announcement said on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Congress MP from Patiala, Preneet Kaur, ” the announcement added,

Preneet Kaur stated a medical school was required to provide improved health care and medical education centers to those of Malerkotla and its adjacent regions.
Amarinder Singh had Friday announced the introduction of a new district of Malerkotla, dividing the Muslim-majority city from Sangrur district.
The ministry had announced a medical school, a women’s school, a brand new bus stand and also a girls police station in Malerkotla.
Preneet Kaur said that the institution of the medical institute would also help create more employment opportunities in the health care field besides supplying medical instructional opportunities to youths.

Chief Secretary Mahajan stated the medical school would be put around 24.44 acres of property and could be connected into the community sub-divisional hospital.
She stated the property for this project was given on rent from the Punjab Wakf Board.
She said 100 pupils are suggested to be admitted to the medical school in the very first year.
