Purnia: Children’s footsteps with symptoms of high fever, nasal rhinitis and upper respiratory infections have risen in the outpatient department (OPD) from the Government of Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Purnia.
However, none of them have so far been positively tested for Covid.
Purnia Civil Surgeon Dr S K VERMA said about 21 children undergoing treatment at the Pediatric GMCH unit, 10 was a viral fever patient.
“There is no child with a Covid infection treated at the hospital,” he said.
Civil surgeons add children, especially those aged two to five years, have come to large amounts of hospitals.
“Most cases are viral.
However, some children also complained of upper respiratory infections, shortness of breath and high fever.
On Friday, 27 children were treated at the OPD Hospital,” added Dr.
Verma.
Asked whether high fever caused convulses, he said, “To prevent convulsions because of high fever among children, we give them paracetamol and for a while passing time.
As a precaution, we conduct a quick antigen test on children Children who come to the hospital to put aside Covid infection and make it doubled ensuring that the RT-PCR test is also done on them.
“” Overall 64 children come to the OPD hospital for treatment with medical conditions such as high fever, nasal rinitis , Shortness of breath and upper respiratory infections in the last three days.
No patient found suffers from meningitis or covid, “said Dr.
Verma.
He added, “The Hospital Pediatric Unit is equipped with oxygen cylinders, moisturizers, oxygen masks and sacrifice.
Two swing absorption pressure (PSA) oxygen generator with the capacity to produce 1,000 liters of oxygen per minute also in ready mode.”
