In an effort to reduce the impact of ecological concerns, the state biodiversity council has proposed a green touch to the Boxavaraja Bommai Prime Ministerial Prime Minister for the financial year 2022-23.
A group of experts led by the Chairman of the Board of Ananth Hegde Ashisara has made 22 recommendations to CM in this matter.
Experts suggest to resolve ecological problems while plans and sub-plans are prepared at the department level, to achieve sustainable development goals (SDG).
The main recommendations include capturing landslides, conservation of forests that are considered, cow grazing soil, Devara Kaadu, plant trees containing fruit, and local diverse trees instead of monoculture plantations through the shared department of income and forest.
Strengthen the biodiversity committee and protect biodiversity through rural development and the Raj Pancayat department.
Strengthening the Village Level Forest Committee, forming the conservation area of ​​medicinal plants, green walls on the beach to stop sea erosion etc.
has been proposed through the Ministry of Forestry.
The biogas production unit has been proposed through the urban development department.
Experts advise the government to involve the horticulture department to promote bee promotions, promotion of sambar plants among others.
They also suggested solar power units for lights and geysers for 5 lakh families through the Department of Energy, in addition to applying tree-based agriculture, and ban on dangerous pesticides through the Ministry of Agriculture.
They also requested CM to hold meetings with experts to implement green ideas in their budget.
The expert team includes TV Ramachandra and other scientists from IISC, Bengaluru, Dr.
Vamana Acharya, former Chairman of the State Pollution Control Board, Keshava H Korse, biological conservation, etc.
“We submit a proposal to CM in the second week of December.
It aims to overcome ecological problems through the department planning,” Informed Ananth Hegde Ashisara.
Sahadev, an activist from KOPPA in Chikkamagalur said, the challenge was to apply suggestions.
“The initiative is good.
But whether the government will seriously apply suggestions is a question.
Ashisara report on landslides in Western Ghats is not implemented until now.
So, I don’t think, the government will take seriously whatever,” he said.
