New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) recently completed a survey of 60 buildings, including puzzle / pile puzzle that had just been built, at Green Park, Lajpat Nagar, Nizamuddin and Adchini where the 3MW solar panel will be installed to save 40 – 50% of their electricity bills.
This project is part of the SDMC initiative to discuss around 450 buildings, offices and health services units in March 2022 to drop electricity bills as a whole of 15-20%.
A senior official said this initiative was also intended to increase the use of green energy.
“In Lajpat Nagar and the Green Park parking lot, we expect enough space and sunlight on the roof for a successful solar panel operation with a capacity of 80kW and 40kW, which will reduce electricity bills by 50%,” the official added.
“Because construction is still in two other sites, the capacity will certainly be ascertained after its settlement.
In addition, the dispensaries and health units are between 60 buildings where the project will be carried out in collaboration with NVVN, a NTPC subsidiary,” the official said.
SDMC also conducted a survey to install solar panels in the surface parking lot to use electricity for their operations and charging stations.
Since 2018, the Civic Agency has worked gradually to cover all its complexes with solar panels.
So far, around 445 complexes have been efficient energy or are in the process of becoming one.
“In phase-i, it is implemented in 2018-19, we discuss 208 schools and other buildings to install panels to produce electricity up to 10MW.
We got Rs 6 Crore after exporting surplus power to the grid,” the official said.
In the financial year 2020-21, 73 Lakh electricity units were produced by this solar panel.
After all projects become operational, they will produce around 14 MW green energy and reduce electricity consumption.
“In the second stage, each 5kw panel was installed in 177 buildings (mostly schools) through funds from the center.
Working at 140 sites has been completed.
We will produce 0.89MW electricity from this panel.
Their capacity may be relatively lacking, but we will Cover the gap with panel installation in 60 buildings in the third phase and produce 3MW electricity every day, “the official said.
SDMC tourist attractions, including the upcoming Bharat Darshan park, have facilities for five solar trees (each of 5kW) and 84KW factories to meet 60% of power requirements.
