Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday he had to spend “a few days” in self-isolation after dozens of people in his entourage fell ill with Covid-19, Tass news agency reported.
Putin spoke through a video link at the top of the Russian LED security block held in Tajikistan.
He had planned to attend directly before the news about the virus outbreak in his inner circle this week.
Previously it was not clear how big the plague was and how long Putin would remain isolated.
“It’s not just one or two people, there are dozens of people,” he said.
“And now I have to stay in self isolation for several days.”
