Bhubaneswar: Police Commissioner, who restored the body of Anurag Das Manish, son of senior journalist navin watershed, from a pool here pinned their hopes on the diatom test with an investigation.
Diatom is a photoosynthesis algae, which is found in almost every water body.

This diatom will then travel to various parts of the body through blood.
If the dead are thrown into the water, he cannot breathe, there is no blood circulation and no diatom cell movements to various organs.
“We have collected pond water samples and sent it to the state forensic science laboratory.
If diatoms are found in Manish’s body, we will match water samples to ascertain whether the death is caused by sinking,” said Deputy Commissioner of the Uma Police Shankar Dash.
Although the police did not reveal the findings of the post-mortem report, the doctors, who carried out an autopsy reported to the police that Manish did not die with sinking.
Police Tamando on Monday sealed a hotel in the Patrapada area where Manish had a party with his friends on Saturday night.
His body was found in the pool, about 3 km from the hotel on Sunday.
