New Delhi: Two Olympic Medal India Shuttler PV Sindhu in India on Monday was appointed as a member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) athlete commission.
Former 26-year-old world champion was named with five other people who would serve as a member of up to 2025.
“BWF is proud to announce six Athletes Commission members BWF 2021 – 2025: Iris Wang (US), Robin Table (Ned), Greysia Polii ( INA), Kim Soyeong (Cor), Pusarla V Sindhu (Ind), Zheng Si Wei (CHN), “BWF said in a statement.
Chairs and deputy chairmen will be decided among six members.
“The new commission will soon meet and decide on the chair and deputy chair of the commission among the six members.
Chairman of the BWF Athletes Commission, after the inspection process as needed for all members of the Board will be a member of the Board until the next election in 2025,” BWF added.
Sindhu, who won the silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016, created history by bagging a bronze medal in Tokyo’s match earlier this year.
In a prestigious world championship, Sindhu has won two silver, in addition to two bronze and gold coveted in 2019.
