Pvt hosps in Ggm to get 85% of 2.5 lakh Covishield doses

GURUGRAM: The Centre has allotted over 2.5 lakh doses of Covishield to private hospitals in Haryana for June, against a demand of 6.6 lakh doses.
Out of the total allotment, Gurugram will get nearly 2.2 lakh doses (85%).
There are 68 private Covid vaccination centres in Gurugram.
Haryana had also raised a request for over 2.5 lakh Covaxin doses for private hospitals, but the Centre hasn’t allotted any yet.
The state had collated data on demand from all private hospitals across Haryana and had sent an aggregated list to the Centre.
According to the new guidelines that came into effect from Monday, private hospital chains have to state their requirements to the Haryana government, the health department said.
Earlier, private facilities could procure vaccines directly from the manufacturers.
The state had collectively sought 9.1 lakh doses for private hospitals.
From June 21, all supplies are being routed through the state government.
“We have informed private hospitals in Gurugram about their allotment.
They will have to deposit money with the Centre and provide a receipt to us, after which they will be given doses by the district immunisation officer,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurugram.
“We received 15,000 doses of Covishield on Monday and another 10,000 doses the next day.
On Wednesday, we received an additional 11,000 doses.
We will be getting fresh consignments of both Covishield and Covaxin on Thursday.
We don’t have any vaccine shortage issues now and will aggressively carry out more vaccinations in the coming days,” he added.
Between June 1 and 23, Gurugram has administered nearly 2.7 lakh vaccine doses — 1.9 lakh at private facilities and 1.7 lakh at government facilities.
On Wednesday, 9,437 people in the 18-44 age group got vaccinated in Gurugram.
A total of 2,849 people in the 45-plus category, 50 healthcare workers and 83 frontline workers also got jabs.
Meanwhile, the health department directed all private hospitals in the district to charge Rs 1,410 for a dose of Covaxin on Wednesday.
Its price was earlier Rs 1,150.
