Dubai: Qatar offers a Covid-19 vaccine for refugees from Afghanistan which while living in the Arab Bay country, which has facilitated global evacuation efforts since the Taliban confiscated Kabul, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
Qatar, who hosted the largest US military base in the region, has so far helped evacuate more than 40,000 people to Doha and will continue to facilitate international efforts in the “coming days”, the ministry said in a statement.
Those who do not immediately transit to other countries are provided with a PCR test and Covid-19 vaccine, if requested, he said, adding that Doha for a while hosting “a large number of evakuee is mostly from their students, family and journalists”.
The pressure to resolve moved thousands of foreigners and Afghans who helped Western countries during the 20-year war against the Taliban increased, with all US troops and allies because they left the airport next week.
Qatar has also approved the United States to temporarily hit 8,000 Afghan citizens while United Arab Emirates and Kuwait both said they would host 5,000.
