Mumbai: Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Tuesday informed that the QR-based pass will be issued for Mumbaikars who are fully vaccinated at 65 train stations in the city, using where they will be able to take a local train from August 15.
Maharashtra minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced a fully vaccinated residents can travel on the local train from August 15, but the 14-day gap from the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is needed to utilize facilities.
Speaking to reporters here, the Mayor said, “Residents should not enjoy a fight, because the long queue is likely to the ticket counters.
People must work together and follow the norms of Covid-19.” Further Pednekar said that the setting was made to issue a QR-based pass on passengers at 65 train stations which were under the jurisdiction of BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The state government has limited local train trips to government employees and people employed in important service staff, since April 2021, to control the spread of Covid-19 during the second wave.
When asked about the request of Ganeshotsav Kruti Samiti to allow residents who were fully vaccinated to participate in Ganpati’s immersion procession, the mayor said the head of the minister would make a decision in this case after consulting with the Covid-19 task force.
The mayor also warned hotel owners and strict action restaurants if Covid-19 rules were not strictly followed.
“Even if hotels and restaurants are allowed to function up to 10pm, the rules must be strictly followed.
If the rules are not followed, the owner can land in trouble,” he said.
The state government has appealed to the center to increase the supply of vaccines, and the authorities also focus on ways to increase vaccination through CSR funds.
