Qualcomm has announced key changes to Branding Snapdragon and a three-digit naming scheme of the chipset portfolio.
The announcement came just a few days before Snapdragon Tech Summit next week where it would reveal the next generation’s superior chip.
Qualcomm has named Snapdragon as a standalone brand.
“We have separated the Qualcomm and Snapdragon brands.
In the future, Snapdragon will be a brand independent product with specific bonds with the appropriate Qualcomm brand,” said the company in a blog post.
The biggest change is how the company gives its chip name throughout the category.
At present, the company follows a three-digit naming scheme for its chipset.
Level entry is 400 series, intermediate levels are 600 and 700; And the high-end chip is 800 series.
Also, the number changes signifies the next generation chipset version of a particular series.
In the future, the company will follow the one-digit naming convention as well as the PC processor (Snapdragon 8CX Gen 2 or 7C Gen 2), starting the next Flagship processor processor Snapdragon 8 Series which was previously expected to be called Snapdragon 898.
The company said, “The new and consistent naming structure for our platform makes it easier for our customers to find and choose devices powered by Snapdragon.
This means our cellular platform will transition to the one-digit series and generation number, aligning with other product categories – starting with platform 8 – our latest Snapdragon Snapdragon, “the company will also drop 5G branding from their chipsets and it also makes Sense as most new chipsets launched by the 5G feature company as connectivity options and the company also says that” moving forward, with a connected platform Snapdragon, 5G will be given “.
Apart from this, the company will also launch a change that indicates a logo.
The company ‘Fireball’ icon will also get new visual assets and other creative executions, according to official blog posts.
