Chennai: The Chairman of the Minister M K Stalin on Monday announced that a gem loan to five gold rulers would be released at a cooperative bank based on poor qualifications.
Initial estimates show that the government will issue RS 6,000 crore expenditure for the jewel loan neglect scheme and it will expand the support needed to cooperative institutions, he said.
Making a statement of Suo Motu, the Main Minister given the recent accusation of the Minister of Cooperation I in the Assembly regarding the irregularities in the scheme of neglecting plant loans during the AIDMK regime, and how loans from RS 2,749 Crore were wrongly released to get the benefits of 2,42 lakh borrowers.
The minister said the government would release a gem loan only with comprehensive verification on every loan expanded by the cooperative community.
“Based on that, complete details about Jewel loans were collected and experienced intensive verification during the past month,” CM said.
The Cooperation Department has collected details under 51 heads, including loans obtained by family members, cooperative communities, days, number, account numbers, PDS cards, Aadhar numbers, detailed addresses and analysis taken digitally.
The minister’s chairman accused several violations found in expanding gem loans too.
“The government only wants poor people who fulfill the benefits.
Also, in some cases, there is no need to release a jewelry loan at a price of less than five sovereign.
The cooperation department will publish detailed guidelines in one or two days,” Stalin said.
The Jewel Loan neglect scheme will not be expanded with the recipient of the 2021 plant loan neglect scheme, the same family member who obtained several loans for more than five gold sovereignty from one cooperative society or from more than one district and those who misused the Aay Family Card for Jewel loans .
It has also been found in several districts that Jewel loans obtained with false intentions to be released illegally after the promise of polls made by the party.
“The state government will take appropriate action against cooperative communities that indulge themselves in such irregularities,” CM said, adding that actions will be taken to ensure the institution acts honestly and efficiently and benefits poorly income and medium-income groups.
Institutions will be monitored thoroughly through total computerized and banking core services.
