Alcañiz (Spain): GP Fabio Quartaro’s Moto Championship leader headed to the motorbike track which was never good for him when he was looking for a victory at the Aragon GP which would move him a step closer to being the first Frenchman to take the crown.
The Yamaha Rider already has five wins under his belt this season and now stands 65 points in front of Champion Joan Mir (Suzuki).
But Aragon is a home race for Spanish drivers, no exception world champion six times Marc Marquez.
“Aragon is probably the worst song on the calendar, not for Yamaha bikes but for me,” Quartaro said.
“I have been fast there before – I got a pole position last year – but I was never really consistent.” So this will be a great thing to repair.
I want to study on the track and be consistent too.
Behind other French Lies Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac) and Italy Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) are 69 and 70 points each behind Quartararo.
Both Zarco and Bagnaia have not won in MotoGP and the Dukatis they usually struggle in the Spanish lane with their last victory coming in 2010.
Suzukis Mir and his teammate Alex Rins caused a greater threat, because Rins’s victory last year showed.
However, Suzuki has not found their steps this season and still has not won the race.
Marquez was born not far from the Aragonc circuit and considered it was his native song.
Comfort with the environment has been borne by five wins there in MotoGP but he has struggled to compensate him since broken his right arm at the first 2020 grand prix.
Honda drivers need three operating attacks and their arms still cause it to be sick.
He holds a sad record for absolute since the beginning of the season.
At present the 12th in the championship, 147 points behind Quartararo, his hopes for the seventh degree are zero but he will be excited to prove to himself – and into the MotoGP world – that he is still in the sports elite.
He may have an important allies on his home circuit which is one of the few runs in the opposite clockwise which means less pressure on the wounded Marquez arm.
It was the same lay-out at Sachsenring in Germany in June where Marquez took the only winning season.
“It’s nice to go back to race in Motorland after skipping a round of 2020 and hopefully we can wear a good show for fans,” Marquez said.
“In the recent race we have approached the front so the goal is to continue this and see what is possible on Sunday.” About 20,000 people will be accepted on the circuit and undoubtedly pay attention to other Spaniards, Maverick Vinales who will make his debut for Aprilia after leaving Yamaha under the clouds.
Yamaha suspended Vinales in August because suspicion tried to damage his bicycle at the Styrian GP.
Vinales, who has won nine races in his career, joined the Aprilia team which showed signs of climbing from the mediocrity of coercion with third place Aleix Espargaro finished in the British GP.
In other categories, Australian Remy Gardner will try to increase his leadership over Spanish racer Raul Fernandez in Moto2.
In Moto3, the 17-year-old Pedro Acosta phenomenon has become a five-time winner for his first season in the category, who wants to rise back from poor performance in Silverstone and stretch his lead at the top of the standings.
