Quota 7.5 percent: the government to bear the costs of students who join professional courses, said TN CM

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government will bear the tuition fees including students who enroll in professional courses in the state below the 7.5 percent quota in professional courses, said Minister M Ken Stalin on Monday.
The Tamil Nadu government has distinguished a 7.5 percent reservation “base preference” for state government students of the state of their acceptance with engineering, agriculture, veterinary medicine, law and other professional degree programs offered in government and private institutions.

“The government has advanced to bear the tuition fees, hostel costs and even counseling costs for students of government schools entering professional college through a quota of 7.5 percent,” said a minister.
Bookings are part of the powerful DMK effort to ensure high quality higher education for students studying in state-run schools, especially in rural areas, Stalin added.
Students who have learned from class VI to XII in these schools will benefit from a new quota, he said.
