SRINAGAR: Internet services on cellular devices are suspended in Kashmir on Wednesday as precautions to ensure a smooth day celebration in the valley, officials said.
However, cellphone services and the internet on the channel remain still unaffected.
“Cellular internet telephone services have been suspended while in the valley to ensure a peaceful Republican day celebration,” the official said.
Suspension of mobile phones and internet services on the Republican Day and Independence Day have been part of the security drill in the valley since 2005 when terrorists use cellphones to trigger an Eid explosion near the celebration of independence day.
Service is usually restored in the afternoon after the peak of the official function in the entire valley.
Republican day celebrations are held in the midst of strict security arrangements in the city of Srinagar and elsewhere in the valley.
Officials say here is not a report about any unward incident from anywhere in Kashmir.
