Nagpur: IAS Officer R Vimala has been appointed as a new Nagpur district collector and is expected to take over in the next few days.
Speaking to Toi, Vimala said, “This will be my first post at Nagpur and I look forward to it.” He is currently the Chief Executive Officer Mission Mission of Maharashtra Rural Livelihood (MSRLM).
When asking what the priority will do, said Vimala, “I want to receive that phone after meeting with officials and discussing what our priority is.” Originating from Bhusawal, Vimala is STD XII Merit students and also one of the toppers at the university.
Started his career as a lecturer, he then shifted to public services.
Vimala’s effort to break the UPSC exam was unsuccessful, but he did not allow setbacks while carrying it.
An acquaintance suggested that he must appear for the MPSC exam.
Not studying Marathi since STD VII, appearing for Marathi language theory papers is a frightening task for Vimala who speak Tamil.
But within three months, he sufficiently mastered the language to score more than 80 marks (of 100) on the paper.
Then he made it to IAS through promotion.
He has played a key role in empowering women in the countryside of Maharashtra.
Another change for Nagpur is the departure of the commissioner of the additional city of Jalaj Sharma, who will be responsible for collector of Dhule District.
Nagpur got a new division commissioner when Prajaka Verma took over.
