Rabies: Fiapo suggests a multi-branch program

Chennai: On the occasion of the World Rabies Day, which was observed on September 28, the Fiapo animal rights organization (Indian animal protection organization federation) had requested the state and the state government to implement a multi-branch program which included the birth of control animals (ABC), vaccination, counseling , and medical assistance.
India became a high-expense state for rabies, it is necessary that the authorities adopt the steps to eradicate zoonotic diseases while the state health care system was still staggered from the awesome effect of Covid-19 pandemic.
FAPO underlines that to effectively implement a national program like that, it is important for rabies to be declared a disease that can be informed.
“Changing the official status of the disease is the key to eradicating rabies.
When there are cases of rabies, all risky people and animals need to be identified, treated, and vaccinated.
Such fast protocol can only be implemented if rabies make a disease that can be informed,” said Bharati Ramachandran , CEO – Fiapo.
The mass murder of the dog recently happened in India.
In the Karnataka Shivamogga District, 150 wild dogs allegedly buried alive in September 2021.
About 300 dogs allegedly destroyed in the Village of Lingapalem West Godavari District at Andhra Pradesh.
At Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, five dogs died after having acid poured on them.
“Fiapo understands the concern of people affected by increasing human-human conflicts.
However, research shows that these incidents arise from fear of dog bites, wrong information, and excess population.
Feelings of hostility and anger that can develop in the community and individuals Against Wild Dogs Following this alternation is often ignored.
So there should not only be a post-bititist counseling to fight this, but through coordinated government efforts, the incident can move to the educational – by telling children and adults With the best suitable behavior to prevent bites, and thus rabies itself.
It requires a large coordinated push – at the national and state level – for anti-rabies vaccination programs throughout the country for wild dogs and pets regularly.
It’s necessary Walk along with the ABC program to stop the excess population.
Fiapo has demanded the provision of direct post-bite treatments (through the first aid station in place) and rabies administration shooting to bite individuals.
People must be educated on vaccination and sterilizing their companion animals, and medical assistance if dog bites occur.
Since 2017, FAPO has researched and works actively to overcome rabies through its campaign “Rabies Free India,” in line with the ‘One Health’ approach.
Campaigns – implemented in Kerala, Punjab and Assam – aim to ensure that policies that are better enacted and the community are empowered to provide quality care to animals.
On the day of the world rabies, Fiapo has also released a video to create awareness among the masses about this disease.
It aims to show signs and symptoms of dog bites and direct steps to prevent the risk of rabies infection in the manitis.
The video was produced in collaborative efforts with the Edinburgh University research project, “Zoopolis Remaking: People Street-Dog Cohabitation and Rabies Preventies in India ”.
