Racket Job: Mumbai Police Catch 3 from Noida

Mumbai: Police Mumbai on Saturday claimed to have damaged a racket allegedly involved in deceiving lakh people promising their favorable jobs by arresting three people from Uttar Pradesh, said an official.
The Mumbai police team stormed the call center operating from Noida after a South Mumbai resident filed a complaint claiming that he was deceived by Rs 1.38 Lakh, the official said.
The complainant was contacted by the caller who claimed to be a representative of the leading and promising work portal of work in a prominent bank, he said quoting complaints.
As asked by the caller, the victim deposited Rs 1.38 lakh against “service fees” and other costs from 12 to 22, he said.
After the victim paid the money requested by the fraudster who posed as a representative of the work portal, the caller stopped attending his call, followed which he approached the Pydhonie police station and filed a complaint.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the victim received a call from the Noida-based call center.
Prima Facie, the defendant has deceived several job seekers from various countries in the same way for lakh, he said.
According to the police, racket members have created a fake domain from the work portal and fake email IDs from the bank.
They used to communicate with victims via cellphones and emails, the official said.
The defendant was identified as Kailashchand Ramchand (29), Satishkumar Kalyan Singh (27) and Geeta Tejveer Singh (27), arrested after the attack, he said.
They have established a call center in the rented flats in Noida from there they used to call job seekers in various countries by posing as representatives of the work portal, he said.
Police restored 14 cellphones, eight SIM cards, three laptops, 14 fake letters from banks and other burdensome documents, he said.
The defendant was taken to Mumbai and was produced in front of the court, which returned them in police custody until August 9, he said.
