Thane: The police have registered a case against six people, some of them from outside Maharashtra, for allegedly deceiving the population of the city of Thane Rs 7.5 Lakh promising to him work on the train, an official said on Tuesday.
A case under the part of the IPC 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery) was registered at the Vartak Nagar police station on Monday night but no arrest had been made so far, he said.
The defendant, including the population of Delhi and Kolkata, promised to arrange work for a complainant as a master station with a train and took a total of 7.50 lakh Rs from him between August 2019 to February 2020.
He transferred money to one Roshni Singh, Delhi residents, through Online banking, the complainant told the police.
The defendant then handed it on a joined letter, an appointment letter and ID card besides a letter stating that he was trained in ‘Gram Kolkata’, but all of these documents turned out to be false and the complainant realized that he had been taken to rise.
Further probes are taking place, police official said.
