New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday demanded compensation to families of those who died because Covid-19 and said it would be the first step towards justice for the victims.
Sharing news reports about the bodies dumped in Ganga during the second wave of Covid-19, Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi, “the truth of the pain of Covid died flowing in Ganga waves, which could not happen to hide.

“Secretary General of Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also demanded a compensation grant to the families of the victims and said Uttar Pradesh Minister of Yogi Adityanath must apologize to the state of the country because of hiding the truth about the bodies found along the Ganges River.
“During the second wave of Coronavirus, the people above unbearable pain and the government were busy eliminating the bodies buried on the edge of the ganga and hiding the truth of the body floating,” he said in a tweet in Hindi.
“Yogi Adityanath Ji must apologize to the state and immediately compensate for the families of the victims,” he said.
He also quoted a report quoting the head of the Gange Namami project where he admitted to the bodies flown on the river during the second wave.
