Rahul Gandhi, Cong MPS runs from the parl panel meeting

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised the national security issues vis-à-vis Pakistan, the deadlock with China and the Taliban captured fresh territory in Afghanistan at the meeting of parliamentary panels Wednesday and demanded discussions about them, said source.
However, he left the meeting of the standing parliamentary committee about the minutes of defense before it was concluded as the Chairperson and BJP leader selling ORAM denied discussions about these problems that said they were not part of the agenda that was decided before, the sources said.
The Committee meets here to review the work of the Cantonment board.
Gandhi stressed that rather than discussing the work of the council, the panel must be intentional with more relevant and important security issues such as the deadlock with China in the East Ladakh and the threat of terror from Pakistan, the sources said.
Gandhi also raised Taliban issues capturing new areas in Afghanistan, China’s influence that developed in Sri Lanka and the impact of this development in India, the sources said.
He said these problems were also more serious and needed an urgent discussion in parliamentary panels.
Responding to Gandhi’s request, Oram’s Chairperson said the meeting agenda was on the Cantonese Board’s work so that the discussion must be limited only.
If there are members who want a discussion about other subjects, he must follow the procedure and provide prior notice from 14 days, Oram said, according to the source.
The chairman of the panel noted that both Gandhi and other Congress members were present at the previous meeting where the committee’s agenda for the year was decided, if not their problem would be taken, they said.
After submitting his case, Gandhi left a meeting for a long 90 minutes before his conclusion, said the source.
Other members of the panel raised several questions related to the function of the Cantonese Board to officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces which were overthrown before the committee, the sources said.
