New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted the destruction of the leader of the Senior Oscar Fernandes party on Monday, considering it as a guide and mentor.
He described Fernandes’s death as a “personal loss”.
Fernandes (80), former Minister of Union and Members of Rajya Sabha, died in a private hospital in Mangaloru on Monday.
He was hospitalized in July after he suffered a head injury because he fell while practicing yoga at his home.
He has also undergone surgery to remove lumps in his brain.
“Sincere condolences to the family and friends of Shri Oscar Fernandes Ji.
This is a personal loss for me.
He is a guide and mentor for many of us in the Congress Party,” Gandhi said on Twitter.
“He will be missed and with love remember the contribution,” he added.
Fernandes is a member of sitting Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.
He has become Loken Sabha MP five times and Rajya Sabha members four times.
He has entered politics as a member of the udupi city council and was elected for Lok Sabha for the first time in 1980.
Fernandes became a parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister in December 1984 and then the AICC Secretary General in 1985.
Then, Karnataka Pradesh Congress President in 1986 and AICC Secretary General from 1996 and so on.
