New Delhi: With the assembly poll in the corner, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi returned to action after returning from a foreign visit.
Former President of Congress held several meetings related to elections on Monday to review the party’s strategy in Goa.
According to PTI, the Congress of the Goa President Girish Chodankar and the leader of the Legislative Party drawn for Kamat has been called to Delhi to discuss the possible party alliance in the state.
Rahul was absent from the political scene for the past few days when he went abroad during the new year.
Since returning last night, the leader of the Congress has held a meeting with a senior member of KC Venugopal and P Chidambaram and reviewing party preparations and strategies for polls in Goa.
Congress, which has a bond with the Forward Goa Party, is also eyeing an alliance with other opposition parties in the state to ensure his victory.
Trinamool Congress, who recently welcomed a number of Congress leaders, also indicated that all opposition forces must unite against BJP.
It was not clear whether Congress and TMC planned to hand in hand in Goa.
Congress tried to overthrow the BJP government in Goa.
It appeared as the largest party in the coastal state in 2017 but BJP succeeded in forming a government with the help of the alliance after the poll.
According to sources, Rahul is expected to hold a similar meeting for other polls from Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Manipur.
The party’s central election committee will immediately meet to complete the candidate for selection of assemblies in five states.
The election in five countries will begin on February 10 and conclude on March 7.
Vote counting will take place on March 10.
Uttar Pradesh will go to the poll in seven phases from February 10 to March 7 while Manipur will choose in two phases February 27 and March 3.
Voting in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa will be held in one phase on February 14.
