NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday searched Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention at the avoidance of new regulations Lakshadweep, stating the principles attempt to penalise dissent and undermine grassroots democracy.
In a letter to the prime ministry, he explained this is being achieved with the newest Administrator Praful Khoda Patel at the guise of growth and keeping law and order.
“I ask you to intervene in this issue and make certain that the aforementioned orders are withdrawn.

Noting that Lakshadweep’s pristine all-natural beauty and its own distinctive confluence of civilizations have attracted people for centuries, he stated the custodians of its legacy attempt to protect the archipelago for posterity.
“But, their potential is jeopardized from the anti-people policies declared by the secretary of Lakshadweep, Shri Praful Khoda Patel.
The secretary has unilaterally suggested sweeping changes without consulting chosen representatives or the general public.
Individuals of Lakshadweep are discriminated from those random activities,” the former Congress chief explained.
Gandhi explained the secretary’s effort to undermine environmental sanctity of this island is evident from the draft Lakshadweep Development Authority Regulation issued lately.

The provision in the draft Panchayat Legislation that disqualifies members with over two kids is intentionally anti-democratic,” he explained.
The Congress leader emphasized the new administrator also has also suggested changes to legislation such as the Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Legislation, the Lakshadweep Animals Preservation Legislation and lifting of constraints on selling of alcohol and termed them as a deliberate attack on the ethnic and spiritual fabric of the neighborhood community.
He said the effort to decrease ties with all the Beypore port strikes in the close cultural and historical ties with Kerala.
