Just before demonetization on November 8, 2016, cash in circulation was Rs 17.74 Lakh Crore, which increased to Rs 29.17 lakh crore on October 29, 2021, he quoted RBI reports.
According to the latest ‘Global Hunger’ report, India is behind Pakistan’s rankings, Nepal and Bangladesh 101 in the list of 116 countries, he said.
Surjewala also quoted the ‘report on world inequality’ issued this month to say 57 percent of the total income of the nation only rested with 10 percent of people, while the lowest 50 percent only had 13 percent of it.
He quoted the NSO report that said that under the average income of the mod to the country the country was reduced by Rs 27 per day – less than the wage of Mgnrega.
