Frizzless: People in South Odisha have been left unhappy with this year’s Union budget that has allocated only Rs 1000 Crore for a 241-km frizz-sambalpur line while giving anything to 180 km Gopalpur-Rayagana and 293-km long gopalpur- Talacher train line.
“Sambalpur lines, which are intended to connect the west to the western part of the country, will pass Phulbani in the Kandhamal District, which has not been connected to the railroad network.
The allocation of little amount in the budget for the proposed railway line is none other than possible, “B Shankar Patra said, holding the Sambalpur train action committee.
The survey for the railway line between Gopalpur-Rayagada was completed in 2013.
The project assumed the significance because it was intended to connect the port city to the industrial city in South Odisha.
But there is no budget allocation for the proposed line, the source said the proposal for cart mills in Sitalapalli has also been ignored in the budget.
“We hope the project will be implemented when the train ministry decides to examine his last year.
But we are disappointed because this budget ignores almost all of our demands, including the Wagon factory,” said Gelhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu.
