Thane: In the moment of landmark for commuting the suburb of the central train, the fifth rail line between Thane and Diva in the bottom have been made operating starting on Sunday after a 14-hour infrastructure block.
The development will now help increase the movement of traffic between Mumbai and the outskirts of expanded.
The sixth line and the last leg of the corridor expansion project will be activated after the main block next month, leading to complete suburban separation and outstation traffic and transport traffic in the Kyan-Kurla segment, said Shiv Sena Shrikant Shinde.
“The lower way between Thane and Diva, which is left excessive after slow tracks transferred to the new corridor, has now been converted for all local trains traveling towards Kalyan.
Mail Express and Thrombay will come from LTT and Thrombay will use the fifth corridor to pass Parsik Tunnel, “Informed Shivaji Sutar, Chief Pro in the Railroad Center.
The train outstation originating from omelet and mumbai cssmt can be operated through a new fast line activated through Kalwa and Mumbra or diverted through the Parsik Tunnel route, Sutar added.
Sunil Udasi, Head of the Pro in the MRVC which blocked the block, said nearly 500 workers were pressed into services involving cutting and connecting train lines in Thane and Diva.
UDasi added that the 72 hour block is scheduled for early February which will be used to activate the last leg of the corridor where the slow line that redundant will be converted into a quick line between Diva and Thane.
“The whole suburban and outstation traffic between LTT and Kalyan will be separated in mid-February which will be very helpful in increasing the movement of the suburban traffic between Mumbai and around the suburbs because it will reduce overlapping railways and outstation with local residents,” said Shinde.
Experts say the corridor expansion plans two decades returns are needed for the suburbs of Mumbai considering rapid growth in commuter volume.
While additional lines between Kurla-Kalyan will operate next month, all eyes are at the legs of the next expansion between Kurla and towards the CSMT needed for complete separation from fast lines.
