Rain in Mumbai, but low lake water stock

Mumbai / Pune: Rain activities are recorded in the city of the island and adjacent areas such as Thane throughout Wednesday.
The suburb of the city of Mumbai, with a comparison, recorded a little rain activity.
Within 12 hours end at 8:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, the Observatory Colaba IMD recorded 38.8mm rainfall and 8.7mm Santacruz.
IMD officials said the orange warning was already there for Wednesday, showing heavy rain until the rain was very heavy in isolated places.
Weather officials said the low pressure area lies in Kutp and the coastal environment and through offshore on average sea level located on Karnataka beach and Kerala.
Under the influence of this condition, spacious rainfall with isolated rainfall with very heavy rainfall is “very possible” along the west coast and inland areas next to the next three days.
Meanwhile, BMC officials said while low water stocks on the lake were concerned, they monitored the situation.
As on Wednesday, total water stocks in seven lakes supplied water to the city reaching 2.5 lakh million liters or 17.35% of total requirements.
Last year, the total stock at the same date was around 3.5 laks million liters, which was higher at 23.9% of the water stock needed.
In 2019, total water stocks on the lake reached 47%.
Ajay Rathod, the Chief Engineer of the BMC Hydraulic Department, said, “IMD has expected rainfall for the coming days and we observe the situation for now.” The city experienced 20% water cuts on August 2020 in the middle of the Covid-19 outbreak due to low water storage levels on the lake.
