Rainfall was also reported from Midnapore East and West, Bankura, Jhargram and Purulia, besides HOWRA, Hooghly, North Korea and South 24 Pargana, East Bardhaman and Birbhum.
Heavy rain is also likely to occur in certain places above Purulia, Bankura and West Bardhaman Regency on Thursday, the weather office said.
“The weather tends to increase in most South Bengal regencies from Thursday,” said regional met director GK Das.
Bhowanipore Bypoll, where Minister Mamata Banerjee is a candidate, scheduled for Thursday.
Election officials say all arrangements have been made if the rain continues.
All voting centers were asked to arrange the pump to drain floods, while police personnel were used for selection to bring raincoats and umbrellas, they said.
Some places in the Bhowanipore constituency were underwater on Wednesday after rain last night, officials said.
Waterlogging was also reported from Amherst Street, Thanthania, Central Avenue and Nayabad, among others.
Some South Bengal cities such as Kharagpur, Haldia, Contai and Diamond Harbor also reported waterlogging.
Haldia Port City in the East Midnapore District recorded the highest rainfall in 24 hours until 8:30 a.m.
on Wednesday at 216 mm, the weather office said.
Kolkata recorded 87 mm rainfall during that period, he said.
Another place that records the amount of high rain is Mohanpur (192 mm), Kharagpur (171 mm), midnapore (171 mm), Kalaikunda (167 mm), Sagar Island (152 mm), Diamond Harbor (150 mm) and Salt Lake ( 52 mm), he said.
