Rain Resing but Osman Nagar is still under water

Hyderabad: It’s been about two weeks since heavy rain brought havoc in several parts of the city.
However, even when it rained, and most of the regions recovered from inundation, residents of Osman Nagar, on the outskirts of the old city, were still shaken under the impact of the flood.
With more than 200 houses still sank in a surplus of water from Lake Osman Nagar, algae and waste, an angry local population accused their request to officials flowing out of deaf ears.
However, officials said that many houses had been built in the Lake FTL area which was why they were underwater.
The entire area was under water for about six months after the flood in October 2020.
Residents claimed that the closure of the outlet channel to protect the closest colonies of the flood was one of the reasons for last year’s flood.
“After last year’s flood, Education Minister Indira Reddy had examined the area and the final officials of the city of Jalpally began to build the bund to stop the surplus of water from Lake Osman Nagar flooded the area.
But it hasn’t stopped water from flooding the area,” said Sumaya Begum.
Residents of Osman Nagar.
Waheed Ahmed (65), who had slept at the nearest mosque since the rain recently, said, “My whole house was filled with rainwater.
It is not true that we have penetrated Lake FTL.
These houses are sold to us by previous owners and Has made them legally registered.
“But Jalpally City officials said that some affected houses were in the Lake FTL area.
“We can’t do anything because the case is waiting in a high court.
We have arranged a temporary shelter and began reconstructing the bund to prevent flooding,” said G Praveen Kumar, Commissioner, Jalpally City.
