Kanyakumari: There was a letup in the intensity of rain in Kyakumari from Sunday morning after three days of heavy rain which left many parts of the district.
More than 3,200 people must be transferred to security in 24 hours until Sunday morning and as many as 72 broken cottages, 10 of them are completely.
The district records an average rainfall of 109.53 mm in 24 hours to 8 in the morning.
Of the 14 places that record rainfall of more than 100 mm, each recorded more than 210 mm.
The train canceled well entirely, partially or short ended in Thiruvananthapuram and Nagercoil.
District administration states holidays for schools and colleges on Monday.
A total of 3,278 people were evacuated from 65 flooded areas in all districts until 9am on Sundays and shifted to temporary shelters where they provided basic foods and facilities.
The people who were saved came from 1,004 families covering 1,620 women, 1,063 men and 595 children.
The highest number of flooded places is in Agastheeswaram Taluk (19).
Many places in Thovovai Taluk (17) and several lowland places in Calculants, Vilavancode, Killiyoyoor and Thiruvattar Taluk are flooded.
“The biggest challenge is a resistance by people from the area which is flooded because they refuse to leave their area even though there is water content rises and pests for a threat to their lives,” the district collector told toi.
Heavy duty motorbikes are used to pump water from such temples and many other places where water cannot flow naturally.
The medical team has examined people in assistance camps for disease.

Perkhani recorded the highest rainfall of 219.4 mm in 24 hours, followed by Pukhen Dam with 217 mm and mortar lower with 211 mm.
By recording an average rainfall of 77.2 mm in 24 hours to Friday morning and 100.48 mm to Saturday morning, this district has recorded an average rainfall of 287.21 mm for 72 hours.
