Rain triggered a landslide in Salem-Yercaud Ghat Road

Salem: Great Boulder rolled to Salem-Yercaud Ghat Road following a landslide of heavy rain landslides at the end of the night.
Workers from the state highway department are pressed into the service to clean the stone.
Heavy rain continuously triggered landslides near Vazhavadhi, a village in Salem-Yercaud Road through the Kuppanur route at the end of the night of the night.
Police officials at the Kuppanur checkpoint stopped vehicle traffic on stretching after they were told about landslides by locals.
After cleaning the stretch, the highway department allowed all vehicles to Yercaud from Monday morning.
An official from the State Highway Department said traffic was not affected because of landslides.
“At the same time, the road might weaken because of soil erosion,” said the official.
He said that they allowed bicycles and cars on Jalan Ghat at this time.
“We have suggested all drivers to driving slowly when they passed Jalan Ghat including landslide areas,” officially added.
According to an official from the Meteorology Department, Yercaud received continuous rain for the past few days.
“Hill Shervaroy received 78mm rain on Thursday, 127mm on Friday, 21mm on Saturdays and 18mm on Sundays,” said the official.
