Rainfall recently affected 50% of vineyards in the Nashik district

Nashik: A recent heavy rain attack has affected around 50% of a total of 1.75 lakh acre vineyards in the Nashik district where trimming activities have been completed and growing ongoing.
According to Maharashtra Rajya Drakash Bagayatdar Sangh (MRDB), a grape-farmer association, production in more than 80,000 hectares of vineyards is expected to be reduced by more than 20% to 6 tons per acre against 8 tons.
That is, farmers are expected to cause a loss of around 2 lakh tons of wine due to heavy rainfall.
“More than 50% of vineyards in the districts are in sprouting mode and fruits begin to develop in some of these vineyards.
But the rain is very damaging vineyards and this will cause a blessing in the wine,” said Patil Manik , a host of the senior MrDB office, said.
Patil, who is also the Director of the National Horticulture Council (NHB) and the Association of Indian Wine Exporters (GEA), said farmers have begun to spray activities to protect vineyards from diseases such as downy.
“However.
There will be no damage to vineyards where trimming has not occurred,” Patil added.
Khandu Shevale, a wine farmer, said farmers had planted Thompson without seeds, various wines, but many also began planting colorful varieties.
“The vineyard of this colorful wine variety can be beaten more and the results can be dipped by 50%.
In addition, the growth of Vineyards varieties is also expected to be affected.” Sharad Dhokle, a farmer from Dindori Taluka, said he had four hectares below Jumbo Black and Flame Seedless Grapes.
“The four hectares of vineyards are in the early stages of developing fruits.
But heavy rain has damaged my vineyards because fruits will not be developed and production losses will be very large,” he said.
