Coimbatore: AIADMK coordinator o Panneerselvam and coordinator with Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday urged the Tamil Nadu government to take direct steps to reduce the impact of rain and flooding.
In a joint statement, the two leaders want the government to evacuate people living in vulnerable areas, giving them basic facilities and protecting them from extreme weather oddities.

Be aware of the gravity of the situation, the government machine must act on the footing of war to maintain life, livelihoods and traits of people, they said.
Both leaders urged the state government and Chennai Corporation to evacuate people living on the edge of Coufi, Buckingham canal because there was a possibility of flooding in this water channel.
The people evacuated must be accommodated in safe places and were given food, mask, and medical assistance, they said.
