Jaipur: Khichan bird asylum faces a lack of water, which is very important to sustain this water habitat where demoiselle cranes come thousands every year.
An alternative system (pipe) to bring water to the Sagar Vijay pool from 1.5 km away has been placed.
However, it will take another 15 days to fill the water hole artificially.
Seva Ram Mali, a diligent bird lover and caregiver in the area said, “The first batch of Demoiselle Cranes has arrived this season.
However, because of less water, only one comes to the pool.
I witnessed around 200 cranes in the area 26 August.
“At the end of October, the number of visitors is expected to swell up to 30,000 or more.
The International Union for Nature Conservation (IUCN) member Dau Lal Bohra said, “Khichan is the only place in the world where people can feed these birds artificially.
This is the main attraction for bird lovers throughout the world.
The section must save a reserve plan to preserve the water body, if not, this crane will fly to Gujarat.
“In 2017, the division bench issued direction to the state government for the settings needed for migration birds in Khichan Village in Phalodi Tehsil.
Previously, the High Court also asked the government to shift a high tension line that passed the dining place for these birds.
Following court instructions, a committee has gone to check the site and submit a report with several suggestions.
The state government, through the Secretary of the Head, has convinced the court to apply most suggestions.
About 3000 square meters of land are allocated for bird eating places.
Three waterbodies were also proposed to be built while the land of 400 BIGHA will also be identified across the street.
Mali said, “Phed must connect this waterbodi with a canal.
However, nothing is done to date and the situation gets a girl every year.”
