Jodhpur: putting pressure, the head of the Ashok Minister Gehlot finally admitted that he had to reduce VAT on gasoline and diesel in the state.
He said the state government would bear the loss of income caused by the move.
Even though he did not signal when it was coming, his statement had come as a big relief for people who pay the highest rates for automatic fuels in this country.
Gehlot, who was in Jodhpur on a one-day visit, said this at the public address in Jeleli Fozdar Village after taking a stock of camps under ‘Prashasan Gaon to Sang’.
“When all countries have a reduced price, we also have to reduce it,” he said.
The day before, he expressed his reluctance to reduce taxes and had written a letter to the center demanding further reduction of their part.
But as many countries have done it, especially the Punjab who was ordered by the Congress, Gehlot was under pressure to follow them.
“Our government will also provide assistance to the people by reducing VAT on gasoline and diesel in the state,” he said.
Holding the center responsible for high fuel prices, he said that it looted people by collecting large taxes on fuel.
“They have provided little assistance,” he said, stating that the center further will reduce taxes.
Gehlot, who came to his hometown after one year.
