Jaipur: The State Education Department will introduce a ‘education in maternal language’ program in the pre-primary and primary class from the next academic session with new education policies (NEP).
The Rajasthan Research & Training Council (RSCERT), Udaipur, has prepared a curriculum with contents in three languages - Hindi, English, and local dialects.
For example, textbooks will teach mangoes in English, Aam in Hindi and Keri in the local dialect.
The state has 18 local dialects recognized by the central government and some small dialects.
The state government is committed to introducing NEP provisions by integrating it into the education system in June 2022.
Regional language promotion is one of the main provisions of NEP.
“Earlier this year, 18 dialects have been used for the development of modules for up to five classes.
Experts subjects from all regions are called to form a repository of words to make composite textbooks.

Each language book will begin with a picture with its name in a local dialect, Hindi and English.
The dialect that has been included is Marwari, Vaagdi, Doondari, Memini, Bhili and Shekhawati together with the minor dialect.
“Intense training has been given to teachers to train or teach students in classrooms with a new module.
The focus is to educate students in their local language to keep these languages alive,” said Priyanka Jodhawat, RSCERT head.
The body research has also maintained provisions that allow the teachers to fill or modify words for public articles or places if they are different sounds in certain areas.
The dialect class will stop after grade 5.
