Jaipur: Super-contagious Delta variant attacks during the second wave have pushed the Ministry of Health to start taking prevention steps if the third wave touches the country.
Of the 731 samples tested positively for different variants, 655 found delta, Alpha (52), Kappa (14), B.1 (10) and one Delta + variant.
Since then, Delta has dominated other variants, the Ministry of Health has begun to take preparation by considering the Delta variant.
“In the second wave, the need for oxygen increases because the Delta variant affects the lungs and patients find it difficult to breathe.
In the first wave, we do not face such a situation.
In the second wave, the patient’s condition deteriorated far.
Given the requirements for oxygen in the second wave , We have done all the preparations for the third wave, “said Siddharth Mahajan, Secretary (Health).
Districts such as Jaipur, Alwar, Udaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Sikar, are the worst affected because of the second wave, have a high number of Delta variants.
Of the 655 samples tested positive for Delta variants, 305 were in Jaipur, Alwar (107), Udaipur (58), Bikaner (34), Jodhpur (29) and Sikar (29).
The remaining 92 samples belonged to 27 other districts.
Officials say drugs, which are needed on the second wave such as remdesivir and steroids, are also available along with the eight main tests that are most commonly used in the treatment of covid patients in the second wave.
During the second wave, many patients have developed thromboembolism, cytokine storms, septicemia, myocarditis, systemic inflammatory response syndrome and inflammation, which deteriorated their condition and in some cases even causing death.
To diagnose these conditions, doctors have used tests such as D-Dimer, Interleukin 6 (IL6), Procalcitonin, Troponin I and Troponin T, Ferritin, Lactate Dehydrogenase (LD or LDH) and C-reactive protein (CRP).
Now, because the Ministry of Health is preparing for the third wave, it makes all eight tests available in rural areas as well.
