Jaipur: Covid claims 17 lives and infected 14,829 people across the country on Saturday, taking the number of victims to 9,076 and cumulative positive calculations to 11,15,790.
This is the biggest single-day surge in Covid’s death since June 14, when 20 people fell prey viruses.
Jodhpur reported five deaths, the highest of the district in 24 hours.
Jodhpur was followed by Jaipur with three victims while one death was reported from Ajmer, Alwar, Barmer, Bharatpur, Churu, Kota, Nagaur, Sikar and Udaipur.
For the fifth consecutive day, the country witnessed a surge in Covid death with 66 people lost their lives on the virus.
In the last 24 hours, active cases in the country rose from 84,787 to 89,233.
Jaipur, who reported 3,988 fresh infections, saw active cases up from 21,339 to 22,778.
Jaipur was attended by Alwar (7,806), Jodhpur (6,994), Udaipur (4,852), Bharatpur (4,019), City (3,472), Pali (3,332) and Ajmer (3,315).
Most patients who restore under house isolation, eight districts collectively recorded 56,568 active cases, contributing 63.4% of all cases in the state.
On the recovery front, 10,366 people received a total calculation to 10.17,481.
A senior health department official said most people infected with Covid recovered under house isolation and his death rate of less than 0.1% in the state.
“Because cases increase, people need to take precautions, follow the appropriate Covid behavior and get vaccination,” said Health Officer.
