Rajasthan: ‘Air Indira Gandhi Nahar Polluted’

Jaipur: Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has claimed that stretching from the Satlej and Beas river that provides water to Indira Gandhi Nahar Project (IGNP) which is polluted mainly due to disbursed waste disposal and some treated from the city.
Recognition is part of the answer to the question on IGNP by Rajya Sabha MP Rajendra Gehlot in the DPR on Monday.
The IGNP provides water, including drinking water, for 13 districts in the state.
Appearing contrary to the claims made by the regional government found no pollutant from the sample collected regularly from the IGNP.
The answer said that based on river pollution assessment was carried out by the Board Pollution Control Center (CPCB) in September 2018, 351 stretched polluted identified in 323 rivers based on Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), indicators of organic pollution.
It includes one stretch each on SULLUJ and River Beas as well as Bein (Beas River) in Punjab, which has a HARIKA BARRAGE meeting from where Rajasthan Feeder / Indira Gandhi Canal and Ferozpur Feeder gets water from.

“This requires conventional treatment and disinfection to make it suitable for drink purposes,” reading replies, so it is clear that the water flown in IGNP is not suitable for drinking.
It provides drinking to1.75 water crore people spread in 10 sub-districts in 7500 villages.
This project has a capacity of 18500 water cusecs.
The state has competed that since the project offer with three countries – Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana, became the task of the central government to intervene in problems related to the project.
Shekhawat in a reply, graduated on the responsibility of cleaning the river in the state and local bodies to fight pollution.
“They must ensure the treatment of the necessary waste and industrial waste with the norms determined before the use of the water body,” said the reply, which reminded the state of the command from the National Tribunal National (NGT) regarding stretching polluted rivers in this country, including this on the Satluj River and Beas.
“Countries / UTS are needed to implement an approved action plan for word recovery stretching in their jurisdiction within the defined time limit,” the answer said.
