Jaipur: Around 5.11 Lakh voters will decide the fate of 16 candidates at Bypolls to Vallabhnagar in Udaipur and Dhariawad in the constituency of Pratapgarh assembly on Saturday.
Polling in two of these constituencies starts at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm.
Of the 2.53 lakh voters in Vallabhnagar, 1.29 lakh were men and 1.24 lakh women, said the head of Praveen Gupta’s head election.
Likewise, of the 2.57 Lakh voters in Dhariawad, 1.29 lakh were men and 1.27 lakh women.
There were nine candidates in Vallabhnagar and seven in Dhariawad.
Gupta has appealed to the voters to follow the Covid protocol during the voting and use face masks.
Infected with Covid, suspects and those who live in quarantine can use their franchise starting at 17:00 to 6pm.
However, district administration has not received information about Covid infected voters.
Gupta said that special arrangements such as pick-up and drop, wheelchairs and separate queues have been made for 14,417 voters above 80 years and 4,567 special voters on constituencies.
A special booth has also been prepared for other people in the Vallabhnagar assembly constituency.
Overall, 11 companies from Central Armed Police forces (CAPF) and State Armed Police (SAPF) have been deployed in Vallabhnagar and Dhariwad to ensure peaceful elections.
He said that 4,468 police personnel had been deployed in both elections to maintain law and order during the Bypolls.
Webcasting will be carried out on 64 polling stations – 31 in Vallabhnagar and 33 in Dharawad, Gupta said.
Overall, 638 voting stations have been established in both constituencies, 310 in Vallabhnagar and 328 in Dharawad.
There are 119 sensitive connection booths in constituencies.
Videography will also be done at 29 voting stations.
Micro observer will be present at 12 voting stations in Vallabhnagar and 14 in Dharawad.
Meanwhile, the authorities have grabbed liquor, cash, narcotics and other suspicious matter worth Rs 1.43 Crore.
