JAIPUR: The vaccination drive took a massive acceleration on Friday when nearly 10.45 lakh people got vaccinated and thus making it the largest ever single day vaccination by the health department.
It was biggest ever single-day vaccination in the state since it was started on January15.
Authorities stated that at districts like Ajmer, Pali, Sikar and Jhunjhunu, beneficiaries kept getting the jab till 10.30pm on Friday.
On April 5, the state had seen maximum single-day vaccination at 5.81 lakh.
Senior officers of the health department associated with the vaccination stated that on Wednesday the state had received 9 lakh doses which were added to the stock of 4 lakh doses.
“On Friday morning, we had 13 lakh doses out of which10,45,833 beneficiaries got their jab,” Dr Raghuraj Singh, nodal officer, vaccination told TOI.
When the state had more than 9 lakh shots on a single day, is it left with some doses for Saturday.
“We are left with nearly 4 lakh doses and we will send our next requisite to the Union government on Saturday.
Since we received 9 lakh vaccines on Wednesday, which were evenly transported across the state by Friday morning, we could see a big elevation in vaccination,” he added.
Long queues of beneficiaries were seen at the vaccination sites since morning and social distancing had gone for a toss.
“I had come along with my sister to get the first jab, but seeing the rush I thought I couldn’t get vaccinated while standing in queues for long,” said Priyank Singh, a 22-yearold youth, who had come with his sister to get his first jab.
Authorities stated that nearly 2.5 lakh Covaxin doses, which were with the vaccination centres in Jaipur, were also distributed as per need.
“We are administering Covaxin mainly to those whose second dose was due today and in upcoming days,” said an officer at Gandhi Nagar dispensary.
For Saturday, the state is now left with nearly 4.5 lakh vaccines.
“Today, we got 2.85 lakh more vaccines, thus for Saturday we are left with nearly 4.5 lakh vaccines,” said a senior officer.
