Rajasthan: groundwater scheme gets gehlot boost

Jaipur: Chairman of the Ashok Minister Gehlot on Monday said Rajiv Gandhi Jal Sanchay Yojana was an ambitious scheme whose main purpose was to increase the surface of the ground and to prepare a water harvesting structure.
He said the water catchment work must be approved on priority in all departments related to the scheme so that the project can begin immediately after the monsoon.
Gehlot is reviewing the progress of the work related to the development of river flows and land conservation through video conferencing from the head of the ministerial head on Monday.
He said the progress made in Rajiv Gandhi Jal Sanchay Yojana must be reviewed every month at the state level.
CM Ashok Gehlot with officials in video conferencing in the city on Monday also directed collectors and secretaries responsible at the district level to review the scheme works from time to time.
The minister’s chairman said that the state faced hunger and measuring many times.
He said the availability of water has increased in areas with low rainfall due to projects under NREGA and the construction of water harvesting structures.
He said under the work of Development of Nrega and Das, a study must be carried out on increasing ground water from structures such as pourings, ponds and rivulets etc.
He said activities such as farm ponds, Khadin and Diggi construction must be encouraged by promoting harvesting rainwater work so that farms remain in the field.
The Secretary of the Department of Panchayati Raj Manju Rajpal said that in his presentation that Rajiv Gandhi Jal Sanchay Yojana was launched in the state on August 20, 2019.
In the first phase, 4029 villages had been included in 1,450 Panceshayats Village.
He said the selection of work and geographical marking of all projects was being carried out using GIS technology for effective transparency and monitoring.
Rajpal told that 247 lakh hectares were available for the development of water catch water in the state.
From this, the work of harvesting water harvesting is being carried out at 124 lakh hectares.
In the remaining 123 hectares of lakh, a comprehensive plan has been prepared for the development of river flows and sent to the central government.
