New Delhi: Rajib Banerjee, a former leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Sunday joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC) at the public meeting of the Secretary General of the Abhishek Banerjee Party in Tripura.
Banerjee, who was previously a minister in the government of Mamata Banerjee, was appointed at the BJP National Executive Committee earlier this month.
“I realized that I could not accept the politics of the ideology of hatred and divide divided by BJP.
I cannot accept the anti-BJP policy,” he said.
Banerjee said he regretted his decision to join BJP and added, “I will work under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee”.
He has opposed the West Bengal poll as a BJP candidate from the Domjur Constituency but loses to TMC candidates.
This happened in the midst of many BJP leaders like Babul Supriyo defected TMC in West Bengal.
