Rajkot: Hitesh Ramavat who was arrested in 2016 for allegedly stoned three people to death was released in two murders by the Rajkot Court based on the benefits of doubts, while the trial for the third murder was still delayed.
Additional Judge P N Dave session released the 33-year-old Ramavat from the charges of killing Sagar and Pravin Barad.
Ramavat was arrested for killing these people in their sleep on the path.
Increase, tea sellers are stoned to death near the Bhaktinagar train station, while Barad a driver of the Autorickshaw, was attacked near the University of Saurashtra in May 2016.
He then gave up on his wounds in the hospital.
Ramavat, a psychopath, was arrested from the Bedeshwar area in Jamnagar from rented accommodation.
He used to steal the victim’s cellphone.
The prosecution had produced documentary evidence that the defendant used the victim’s cellphone by inserting his simcard.
He called the victim’s bank to get a new password for the ATM card.
The prosecution has also sent bank sound recordings along with forensic reports.
The series of murders carried out by stoning three people had created a big fear of psychosis among people, especially homeless, and a large police team consisting of around 1,200 police officers were divided into various teams assigned tasks for NAB Ramavat in 2016 by Rajkot police.
The police have also recovered large stones from their rented house in Jamnagar where he used to practice stoned people.
District Government Applicant Sanjay Vora said “The court frees Ramavat by providing benefits from doubts, but we will find out more details after studying the assessment.
We will appeal this order in the High Court.”
