Nagpur: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will visit the city on Tuesday.
He will visit the main defense company such as the Indian Air Force Maintenance Command (IAF), and the Brahmos Aerospace Unit in Butibori.
Singh is also expected to visit RSS headquarters, said source.
The Minister is also scheduled to hand over the first batch of multimodal hand grenades made by Economic Explosives Limited (EEL), led by businessmen of Satyanarayan Nuwal, to the army.
This is the first hand grenade made by a private company in this country.
Multimodal grenades are set to replace Granada World War-II-for M36 used by the current army.
M36 is made by a weaponry factory, which also works on new grenades.
The latest grenade has defensive and offensive use for soldiers.
Eels have made weapons based on the design by the Ballistic Laboratory Limited (TBRL) terminal, part of the research and defense development organization.
The eel, which is part of Solar Industries Limited, is the first to pocket the order to make this grenade for the army.
Orders worth CRORE RS409 involve manufacturing 10 lakh grenades for a certain period of time.
The development assumes the importance in the light of the government’s decision for the corporation of the Armament Factory Board (OFB), throws it into the competition with the private sector.
