Rakesh Asthana Launched the Delhi Regional Police E-Learning Platform

New Delhi: Police Commissioner Delhi Rakesh Asthana on Sunday launched an e-learning initiative by the southwestern district of the police to help educate youth and provide skills training to school dropouts from the part of the community who are weak, officials said.
The e-learning platform, ‘Unnati’, was launched at the All Indian Board Auditorium for Technical Education (AICTE) here under the Delhi ‘Yuva’ leading scheme.
‘Yuva’ is aimed at helping young people, especially those from the part of a weak society, and drop out of schools getting education and acquiring skills to realize their dreams of a safe future, officials said.
Through the e-learning platform, these children will be inspired to register and choose their chosen program, they said.
The ‘Unnati’ portal has a very simple design.
Anyone can learn from anywhere using a laptop, desktop, tablet or only cellphone, they said.
The platform provides training, counseling, and placement of trainees.
Direct session recordings are also available online if someone misses the class, officials said.
Speaking on that occasion, Asthana praised the initiative.
Every year, more than 1.5 lakh people are arrested by Delhi police for various crimes.
More than 85 percent of them are the first time counters and only 10-15 percent are repetitive violators, he said.
Initiatives such as ‘Yuva’ and ‘Unnati’ are targeting 85 percent of these people so that they can get new shots in life and join the mainstream as community builders, he added.
In the success of the completion of the e-learning course, the certificate will be given to students who will help them get placement, Delhi Pro Chinmoy Police said Balmal.
The courses offered include digital literacy courses consisting of basic computer courses and typing training, preparatory courses for competitive exams and sports courses, among others, he said.
The ‘Unnati’ placement cell has also been arranged, he added.
On that occasion, Asthana also led the ‘Yuva’ training participants who had got their jobs and supported their families, the officials said.
