Jaipur: Patients make the road to the Sawai Hospital Man Singh (SMS) in large quantities for a variety of health checks amid fear of Covid’s third wave.
The outpatient department is now registering the number of patients who are almost the same, which is used to register before the pandemic.
Patients can be seen standing in a long queue of serpentine in OPD waiting for their turn to visit a doctor.
Even in the ward, the situation is no different.
The surgical department ward, which has a capacity of 34 beds, currently holds 60 patients.
“Daily registration in the outpatient department is more than 8,000 and even more than 10,000,” said Dr.
Rajesh Sharma, medical supervisor, SMS hospital.
While patients come in increased quantities, it has become very difficult for hospital administration to control the situation because of fear of the third covid wave that towered huge.
However, hospital administration appealed to patients to follow the appropriate behavior of Covid.
However, at more than 8,000 patients along with their relatives came to the hospital, it had become a Herculean’s duty for the government to ensure social distance.
In addition, doctors who provide treatment to patients, also face difficulties because many patients come with complications when they delay their care fear on the second wave.
“We watch patients with gallstones, kidney stones, hernias, and appendicitis.
But, now such patients come with malignancy, yellow disease and appendicitis hollow, which is a complication.
Actually, the hernia may not be emergency, but if the operation is delayed , it might be an emergency.
So, many cases will come and we have no choice but to recognize them to operate in an emergency situation, “said Dr.
