Ranchi: Officers and Active Service Personnel of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) will adopt children who lose their parents because of Covid-19.
Earlier this month, the IG Railway Board (HQ) Sumati Shandilya wrote to general managers of all train zones and intimidated about the new adoption program based on the code name “reach, and rehabilitation”.
This program aims to prevent orphans from being taken into the cauldron of human trafficking, Shandilya wrote.
Thus, Officials of RPF in the Ranchi Train Division of the South East Railway are preparing for this program.
Under this program, each officer or personnel who serve will be assigned to treat one child and oversee maintenance, academics and other requirements.
Speaking to Toi, the RPF commander in the Ranchi Prashant Railroad Division Yadav said: “We will look for children like that.
Like and when they are found, they will be taken and given a shelter at the house of local shelter through local NGOs.
They will be submitted by NGOs and their studies and other expenses will be taken care of by the Indian train.
“One officer or serving RPF personnel will be assigned to a child.
Personnel will come into constant contact with children, pay weekly visits and even offer mental support and provide counseling.
Special training modules are being compiled for RPF personnel.
Yadav said the train aims to raise money for the maintenance of children through corporate social responsibility funds and approached business companies for this purpose.
The train might also use funds from the Surakha Kalyan Nidhi train for this program.
In June this year, the state government has announced that it will take care of children who lose their parents because of Covid-19.
The Department of Women and Social Welfare claimed that he had identified more than 300 children for the country-sponsored adoption program.
However, this program has not been launched.
